Frans Brüggen werkt al meer dan twintig jaar aan Bachs Hohe Messe, de compositie die al door de eerste uitgever betiteld werd als ‘het grootste muzikale kunstwerk aller tijden en volkeren’. Met het Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw, het koor Cappella Amsterdam, de solisten Dorothee Mields, Johannette Zomer, Patrick van Goethem, Jan Kobow en Peter Kooij keert Brüggen terug naar Warschau, de plek waar hij al in 1989 de magie van de compositie voor het voetlicht bracht. Deze nieuwe, fabelachtig mooie dubbel-cd is live opgenomen door het liefhebberslabel Glossa. Brüggen vestigt met deze registratie een nieuwe norm in de uitvoering van Bachs Hoogmis.
