Stefano Bagliano is one of the recorder players who are today achieving a growing appreciation at an international level. Got the diploma at the Conservatory Pollini of Padua and specialized with Frans Bruggen, Walter Van Hauwe, Kees Boeke and Pedro Memelsdorff in recorder and ancient music and with Fabrizio Dorsi in orchestral conducting, he won the first prize in several national contests. He started an intense concert activity, with the admiration of the famous international flutists Frans Bruggen and Walter Van Hauwe: he performed as a soloist more than 700 concerts for prestigious festivals and organizations in USA, Canada, Japan, China, Israel, Turkey and all Europe, such as Carnegie Hall of New York, Gasteig of Munich, Moscow Conservatoire, Ishibashi Memorial Hall of Tokio, Beijing and Tianjin Conservatories, Società del Quartetto of Milan/Season in S. Maurizio, Amici della Musica of Florence, Concerts of Palazzo Venezia in Rome broadcasted by Radio RAI 3, Ljubljana International Festival, Engadiner Konzertwochen, Sounding Jerusalem Festival, Sonoro Festival of Bucarest, Auditorium Milli Resaurans of Istanbul, Los Angeles Italian Cultural Institute, Feste musicali per S. Rocco of Venice , Boston Recorder Society, Emilia Romagna International Festival, Season Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan etc..., always with a great success.
As a conductor with baroque orchestra Collegium Pro Musica he performed with the famous singers Emma Kirkby, Roberta Invernizzi and Catherine King. As a soloist with orchestra he performed with conductors such as A. Curtis, R. Barshai, A. Nanut, G. Garbarino, F. Colusso, S. Balestracci, V. Bulakhov as well as with formations such as Les Boreades of Montreal, Academia Montis Regalis, Milano Classica Chamber Orchestra, Mainzer Kammerorchester, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, Solisti della Scala of Milan, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Macedonian Phialarmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Baroque de Nice, Orchestra Toscanini of Parma, Accademia I Filarmonici of Verona, L'Arte dell'Arco. In the field of chamber music with Alaria Ensemble of New York, M. Huggett, B. Van Asperen, O. Dantone, V. Ghielmi, G. Bertagnolli, H. Bouman, C. Chiarappa, F. Guglielmo, L. Duftschmid, E. Bronzi, C. Astronio, A. Coen, G. Tabacco, F. D'Orazio, A. D'Ambricourt, Casal String Quartet, Sonatori della Gioiosa Marca, l'Astrèe.
Bagliano is the founder and the director of the ensemble Collegium Pro Musica and has made several recordings (among them more than 20 as a soloist, with works by Vivaldi, Telemann, Sammartini, Fiorenza, Bach, Marcello, Merula, Stradella, Barbella, Graupner, Fasch etc.) for the labels Brilliant, Stradivarius, Dynamic, Stradivarius, Nuova Era, Tactus, ASV Gaudeamus and Velut Luna, achieving thus enthusiastic appreciations from the european and the american critics (Early Music, Fanfare, Diapason, Amadeus, Musica, American Record Guide, Classic Heute, CD Classica, Répertoire, Scherzo, American Recorder, Fono Forum etc.). Some recordings also came out as a free CD enclosed to some of the most important italian musical magazines, such as CD Classics, Orfeo and two times to the prestigious Amadeus. The CD with the Concerti per flauto op.10 by Vivaldi (2010, Stradivarius) and the one with the complete Vivaldi's Concerti da Camera (Brilliant, 3 CDs, 2012) received several reviews with 5 stars, among them on the magazines "Amadeus" and "Musica". James Altena wrote on the American magazine Fanfare about the CD with the Vivaldi’s Chamber Concertos: “special mention should be made of recorder player Stefano Bagliano……he is as fine a virtuoso on his instrument as I’ve ever heard”.
Stefano Bagliano is the art director of the International Festival of Chamber Music “Le Vie del Barocco” of Genoa and Savona, and consultant member of other concerts series. He was a member of the jury at the Zinetti Chamber Music International Competition of Verona, at the ERTA Italia Recorder Competition of Padova, at the XX AMA Calabria Competition and at the Early Music International Competition of Nervi, Genoa.
Active in the didactic field, he taught in several musical courses and masterclasses, for various institutions, among which Summer Academy of the University of Vienna, F.I.M.A. Early Music Courses of Urbino, Gnessin Institute of Moscow, BRS Boston Recorder Society, Societè Valaisanne de la flute Sion, Conservatory of Oporto (Portugal), Accademia Europea di Musica Antica of Bolzano, Conservatories of Turin, Genoa, Bari, Pescara, Campobasso and Cosenza.
He is professor of recorder and baroque chamber music at the Conservatory “Pedrollo” of Vicenza. He also graduated in Law.
